I admit I wasn't a big fan of the YSL Glossy Stains in the beginning, the application was tricky and I'm not a gloss person. Once I got the hang of the formula though, I started to appreciate how easy it was to slap on and go. So when L'oreal released something similar, I was intrigued.
Swatches, 3 layers each
I found these quite difficult to swatch evenly so the lip shots will have to follow in another post. The first three shades- Lilac Ever After, Pink Resistance, Rose On and On have shimmer in them but they don't feel gritty on nor are they very apparent on the lips. Pink Rebellion was the patchiest and hardest to build up of the lighter shades. One layer of Infinite Fuchsia and Berry Persistence is similar on my lips and the difference is only noticeable after that (2nd and 3rd coat). The darker four shades are the most opaque.
Stains left after wiping it off with a tissue
As expected, the darkest shades left the most obvious stains. Wear time is longer on those as well, approximately 4-5 hours and 2-3 hours on the lighter ones. In my opinion, the biggest difference between these L'oreal Shine Stains and the YSL Glossy Stains is how they feel on my lips after a couple of hours. The L'oreal ones do not make my lips peel but they can feel uncomfortable enough that I won't re-apply. The Glossy Stains, I have no problem re-applying. So although I may have jumped the gun here by buying so many before truly testing it, I will be keeping these and can recommend them to those who have no problems with dryness.
Have you tried the L'oreal Caresse Shine Stains? Like em or no?
